Sometimes while looking at recipes I can see how some of my organic products have overlap with other ingredients. For instance, in this recipe for Bourbon Chicken. The recipe called for ginger, brown sugar and honey. I know that maple syrup is a sweetener and has the consistency of honey so it would probably work in this recipe. I took those 3 ingredients out and added my organic ginger maple syrup which is much healthier. I have even tried it with smoked syrup which worked quite well too. You don't have to swap out taste for organic.

Ingredients
3 lbs Chicken leg quarters
3 tablespoons cornstarch
Sauce
4 cloves garlic , minced
½ teaspoon crushed red chili flakes
⅓ cup apple juice
¼ cup ketchup

¼ cup soy sauce
salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
Mix all sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
Place chicken in slow cooker, pour sauce over top. Cover and cook on low 5 hours or on high 3 hours.
Remove chicken and place under broiler to brown
Meanwhile, combine 3 tablespoons water with cornstarch. Turn slow cooker up to high. Whisk cornstarch slurry into the sauce. Cover and allow to thicken, stirring occasionally (about 10 minutes). Pour sauce over chicken and serve over rice.
